Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his radio address, on Sunday claimed that the entire country had turned into a "prison" during the emergency period in 1975. "Mann Ki Baat is often ridiculed and criticised, but that is possible only because we are committed to democracy," Modi remarked, while drawing a contrast with the period of emergency.
