Essar Group has denied any links with the NuPower Renewables, promoted by ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar's husband Deepak Kochhar. It has also denied links with Firstland Holdings, owned by Essar Co-founder Ravi Ruia's son-in-law and is alleged to have invested ₹325 crore in NuPower starting December 2010. In the same month, ICICI extended a loan to Essar Steel Minnesota.
