Ethiopia faces new war as 4-year truce breaks with Tigray forces

A new conflict has broken out in Ethiopia after forces from its northern region of Tigray launched a major offensive against federal government, calling it a "defensive war". The Tigray People's Liberation Front have seized control of federally controlled airports, breaking a four-year-old peace deal. The two-year war in Tigray, which ended in 2022, had claimed around 6 lakh lives.
