The European Union (EU) has ruled that airlines can offer 5G mobile connectivity services on flights. As per BBC, this likely means passengers will no longer be required to put their phone on airplane mode, and make calls as well as use data-heavy apps mid-flight. Currently, only functionalities like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are allowed on certain flights globally.
