The leaders of Europen countries, Czech Republic and Hungary have said a "joint European army" is needed to detect and tackle external threats. The EU already has a 1,500-strong military unit called 'EU battle group',which has not been tested in combat yet. Earlier, UK had reportedly​ opposed the creation of an army which is outside NATO's scope.
