A study by Emission Analytics stated electric vehicles (EVs) emit more particulate matter from their brakes and tyres than gas-powered cars. The emission could be 1,850 times greater. The research attributed this to heavier weight of EVs, leading to faster deterioration of tyres, mostly made of synthetic rubber derived from crude oil, leading to release of harmful chemicals in air.
