Yoonseok Yang, a former Google intern, revealed that in 2022, he randomly sent a calendar invite to then Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, which was accepted, leading to an impromptu meeting. "[Dean said] you don’t need a PhD...Practical, hands-on experience can teach you how to solve hard problems," Yang revealed in an X post. Dean recently left Google after 27 years.
