Former IPS officer Shivdeep Lande, also known as Bihar's 'Singham' for his fearless policing, contested Bihar Assembly elections on two seats Araria and Jamalpur but lost on both. Lande contested as an Independent candidate in both constituencies and has no criminal cases. JD(U) candidate Nachiketa Mandal and Congress candidate Abidur Rahman won from Jamalpur and Araria respectively.
