J&K government has approved a proposal for deploying ex-military personnel to keep vital infrastructure across the Union Territory safe. An official said 4,000 veterans have been identified, with their role in the initiative being non-combatant, focusing on static guard duties, presence-based deterrence and local coordination. The infrastructure they'll protect include power stations and bridges.
