Santhan, who was a former convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, passed away at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu's Chennai. The 55-year-old was released in November 2022, along with six others, after spending 32 years in jail. Santhan was suffering from cryptogenic cirrhosis (a liver disease) and passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
