Former ISRO Chairman Satish Dhawan took responsibility when an SLV-3 mission satellite headed by late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam fell into the Bay of Bengal in 1979. However, when the mission succeeded the next year, Dhawan sent Kalam to conduct the press conference and claim the credit. Notably, Padma Vibhushan-awardee Dhawan passed away on January 3, 2002.
