The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on Tuesday said general and health insurers cannot modify or add benefits in existing products which would lead to an increase in premium for customers. However, it clarified that insurers are permitted to make minor modifications as stipulated in the consolidated guidelines on product filing in the health insurance business.
