Dr Saumya highlighted that early childhood caries is a multifactorial bacterial disease where cariogenic bacteria, frequent sugar exposure and enamel susceptibility combine to cause rapid tooth decay in toddlers. Cavities begin once primary teeth emerge and progress due to acid production from bacterial biofilms.
