Amid the raging IndiGo crisis, Group Captain MJ Augustine Vinod (Retd) warns India's aviation faces a crisis in training and infrastructure. Pilots are trained abroad due to lack of local facilities, airports aren't built to absorb operational shocks, and DGCA staffing hasn't grown in 30 years. He says the ecosystem isn't scaled for India's ambitions, posing safety and efficiency risks.
