Experts warn green or sprouted potatoes can be toxic

Sprouted and green potatoes can be unsafe due to increased solanine, a natural toxin, as per experts. Cutting sprouts or cooking doesn’t fully remove the risk. Eating them may cause nausea, stomach pain, or headaches, especially in children and elders. If potatoes are heavily sprouted, green, or bitter, they should be discarded. Proper dark, cool storage helps prevent the problem.
