Expired cough syrup given to families in flood-hit UP areas, children fall ill

Flood-hit families in Kanpur's Mayapuram area were given expired cough syrup by the Health Department, leaving several children sick. A health team distributed medicines to around 20 affected families. A four-year-old boy reportedly started vomiting and was taken to a private doctor. The cough syrup had expired in July 2026, raising concerns over the department's handling of relief medicines.
