Justice Girish Thakorlal Nanavati, an ex-Supreme Court judge who headed commissions probing the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the 2002 Gujarat riots, passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday. He died of a cardiac failure, family members said. In 2014, Justices Nanavati and Akshay Mehta had submitted their final report on 2002 riots to then Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel.
