Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, former Theranos COO and ex-romantic partner of Elizabeth Holmes, has lost his bid to remain free until his appeal to a higher court is resolved. Balwani was convicted for his false claims about Theranos' malfunctioning blood-testing technology. He is scheduled to report to prison to begin serving his nearly 13-year sentence on March 16.
