Doctors warn that extreme heat may affect far more than hydration, potentially triggering muscle cramps, joint stiffness, weakness, fatigue, falls, fractures, and worsening arthritis symptoms. Experts say dehydration and electrolyte imbalance can impair muscle function and joint lubrication, especially among older adults, arthritis patients, workers and people with osteoporosis.
