Extreme weather can shrink baby birds: Study

Researchers at University of Oxford analysed 60 years of data on more than 80,000 wild great tits and found extreme weather can shrink baby birds. Study found that sudden cold spells and heavy rainfall slowed development, reducing fledging body mass by 3%. When intense heat and rain occurred together, fledging body mass dropped by up to 27%, lowering survival chances.
