Extremely rare Roman-era tomb discovered empty in Germany

Archaeologists in Germany's Bavaria have uncovered an exceptionally rare Roman-era stone monument near Wolkertshofen. The twelve-metre-wide circular structure, built beside an ancient road, contained no human bones, urns or grave goods. Its empty interior and roadside setting suggest it served as a cenotaph, a memorial, not burial, that honoured the dead without containing their remains.
