Manikrao Gavit, former Union Minister and Congress MP, passed away at the age of 87 on Saturday. He had been ill for some time and died in a hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik. A nine-time Lok Sabha MP, Gavit represented the tribal-dominated Nandurbar constituency between 1980 and 2009. He also served as Minister of State for Social Justice during UPA government.
