Maha Govt bans black magic and witchcraft

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday notified a law against superstition - which awards a maximum punishment of seven years imprisonment if found guilty of propagating superstitious practices - becoming the first state in the country to ban black magic and witchcraft. The ordinance follows the assassination of Narendra Dabholkar (65), who had campaigned for a special law to curb rampant superstition.
