Fake Alphonso mangoes flood Mumbai markets amid shortage

Unseasonal rain and pest attacks have destroyed 60-70% of Alphonso mangoes from the Konkan belt. This has significantly impacted Mumbai’s mango market, where there is high demand for these sweet, aromatic mangoes. To meet high demand, many traders in Mumbai markets are now selling lookalike Alphonso (Hapus) varieties from Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
