Farakka power plant in WB shuts down five units

One of the largest power generation stations in East India, the Farakka Thermal Power Plant in West Bengal, has shut down five of its units owing to the low level of water in its feeder canal. The five units have a combined generating capacity of 1600 MW and could affect industries in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
