Farmer gets ₹2 cr for Noida airport land, says ‘Kept counting zeroes’

The 54-year-old farmer, Harminder Singh, received ₹2 crore compensation for his land acquired by the government for the Noida International Airport or Jewar Airport. "I kept counting the zeroes. And soon, the panic seeped in on what to do with all this money," said Singh, who used to earn ₹50,000/year. The government disbursed ₹8,000 crore to 7,000 farmers in September.
