A farmer in Maharashtra's Chandrapur was forced to travel to Cambodia and sell his kidney for ₹8 lakh after a ₹1-lakh loan he took to start a dairy business jumped to ₹74 lakh. The cows he purchased died and the crops failed, following which his loan ballooned over its ₹10,000 interest/day. He said police took no action despite his complaint.
