India is planning a shift to kilometre-based toll collection, replacing the flat-rate model. Under this system, tolls will be charged based on distance travelled, with no minimum slab. Supported by FASTag, ANPR, and surveillance cameras, it promises fair pricing, lower travel costs, reduced congestion, and faster commutes. Though not official yet, more details are awaited.
