Fencing plans to curb elephant attacks after 25 deaths in WB

In an attempt to curb rising number of elephant attacks on human settlements, Jalpaiguri Forest Department has installed solar-powered fencing across 66 kilometers of forest-adjacent areas. The move aims to reduce human-elephant conflict in vulnerable fringe zones. According to forest department, 25 people have died in elephant attacks in forested regions of North Bengal in the last four months.
