Veteran filmmaker and Dadasaheb Phalke award winner K Balachander passed away on Tuesday, after being hospitalised for some time. Known as 'KB sir' by fans, the multi-lingual filmmaker was known for taking up social themes and family issues, and capturing the heroism of ordinary women. Many actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had worked with Balachander.
