Finland builds underground facility to store radioactive nuclear waste

Finland is preparing to store its highly radioactive nuclear waste in an underground facility as a measure to manage its radioactive waste. The facility is located around 433 metres below the surface and can store 6,500 tonnes of uranium-based spent fuel. Once full, it will be permanently sealed and is designed to remain safe for at least 100,000 years.
