Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, in an interview with Moneycontrol, said firms prefer students from top colleges as "they've demonstrated certain amount of hard work and intellectual acumen to get there". "They're not necessarily being recruited for skills because colleges often don't cover those skills...that are required by the recruiter, [like] IIT graduates getting into banking," he said.
