First African American female author to win Nobel Prize dies

Toni Morrison, who became the first African American woman to be honoured with the Nobel Prize for Literature, passed away at the age of 88 on Monday. Morrison was also bestowed America's highest civilian honour, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in 2012. Her novels include 'Beloved', 'The Bluest Eye', 'Sula', 'Song of Solomon', 'Tar Baby' and 'Jazz'.
