A rare golden nurse shark was spotted off Tortuguero National Park in Caribbean waters in the first documented case worldwide. The shark, approximately two metres long, with white eyes, displayed a rare condition called xanthism, which produces excess golden pigments in skin. Researchers say survival into adulthood is unusual for such a predator, as its vivid colouring stands out sharply.
