First four Republic Day parades were not held at Rajpath

The first Republic Day parade at the Rajpath was held in 1955, five years after India became a republic. Between 1950 and 1954, the parade used to be organised at Irwin Stadium (now National Stadium), Kingsway, Red Fort, and Ramlila grounds. The Republic Day celebrations last for three days and it ends with the Beating Retreat ceremony on January 29.
