Archaeologists have discovered a rare mosaic-style board game at the ancient Mayan city of Naachtun in Guatemala. The first-of-its-kind find is linked to patolli, a ludo-like strategy game known across Mesoamerica. Patolli used a 52-space cross-shaped board and gambling elements. But exactly how the game was played in ancient Mayan societies remained unclear.
