World's first ever recorded parachute jump was made on October 22, 1797, by Frenchman André-Jacques Garnerin in Paris. The pioneer balloonist and parachuter was also appointed as the Official Aeronaut of France later. Born on January 31, 1769, Garnerin died at the age of 54 while making a balloon as he was hit by a wooden beam.
