The Florida Department of Health (DOH) has issued a mosquito-borne illness alert for residents of Volusia County after cases of West Nile Virus were detected there. The DOH is advising residents in the county to "drain and cover" in a bid to protect themselves from the virus. There is no vaccine to prevent or medication to treat the virus.
