Flying with congested ears: Is it safe?
short by / on Friday, 4 April, 2025
Flying with congested ears can cause discomfort and health issues due to pressure changes affecting the Eustachian tubes. Symptoms include ear pain, muffled hearing, and dizziness. To prevent this, consult an ENT specialist, use decongestants, stay hydrated, chew gum, and perform pressure-equalising manoeuvres. Avoid flying if symptoms are severe to prevent complications like barotrauma.
