Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Union Budget 2026 is the first Budget to be prepared in Kartavya Bhavan, which inspired their three 'kartavyas' (duties). "Our first kartavya is to accelerate and sustain economic growth...our second kartavya is to fulfil aspirations of our people and build their capacity...our third kartavya...is to ensure...[everyone] has access to resources," she said.
