Former Army chief JJ Singh has resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) citing personal reasons. Singh, who earlier served as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, had joined SAD ahead of 2017 Assembly elections and unsuccessfully contested against CM Amarinder Singh from Patiala constituency. Reports said he was unhappy with the functioning and the leadership of the party.
