Former Congress MLA from the Matigara-Naxalbari constituency in West Bengal's Darjeeling, Sankar Malakar, joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). "I have decided to join the TMC as this is the only party...fighting against the BJP and its communal politics in Bengal," Malakar said. "I will work closely with the leadership to strengthen the organisation in north Bengal," he added.
