Captain Deepak Vasant Sathe was one of the two pilots who passed away after Air India Express plane overshot the runway while landing in Kerala. Former IAF Wing Commander Sathe was commissioned into service in 1981 and retired in 2003. The 59-year-old had won the 'Sword of Honour' at the Air Force Academy and was an accomplished fighter pilot.
