Former richest man in Brazil gets 30-year prison sentence

Eike Batista, the former mining and oil magnate who was once Brazil’s richest man, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection with a corruption probe. The former billionaire was convicted of paying $16.6 million to Rio de Janeiro's former governor to get government contracts. He was the world's seventh-richest person in 2012 with a $35 billion fortune.
