Samendra Singh Deo, a member of the former royal family of Odisha's Hemgir, began exotic vegetable farming using shade nets in 2023. His hydroponic farm has created local employment in the remote village and produces 100 kg of vegetables daily, generating an annual turnover of ₹30 lakh. The farm's exotic vegetables and herbs are sold within and outside Odisha.
