Former Taliban commander Haji Najibullah pleaded guilty to taking a US journalist and two Afghan nationals hostage in Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2008 and 2009, the US Justice Department said. He also pleaded guilty to providing weapons and assistance to Taliban militants between 2007 and 2009 for attacking US troops in Afghanistan. Najibullah faces life in prison.
