While studies have proved that horses and rhinos belong to the same family of Perissodactyla, evidence of the evolutionary gap had been missing so far. Researchers from John Hopkins claim that paleontologists have now unearthed the fossil of the common ancestor of these animals near a coal mine in Gujarat. The animal was called Cambaytherium thewissi.
