Fossils of a new species of the giant sea lizard mosasaur that lived around 66 million years ago have been discovered in Morocco. Named Thalassotitan atrox, the species grew up to 9 m in length and was a distant relative of modern iguanas and monitor lizards. It had massive jaws and teeth and hunted other marine reptiles, including sea turtles.
