France and Italy have refused to participate in US President Donald Trump's plan to send US-made weapons to Ukraine. The plan would involve Ukraine's NATO allies in Europe and Canada buying weapons, including Patriot air defence systems, from US before sending them to Ukraine. NATO nations have pledged to hike their defence expenditure to 5% of their GDPs by 2035.
