Born in a village 40 km away from Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, Govind Singh started Utkarsh microfinance to fund the below poverty line population in UP and Bihar. In 2016, it got a small finance bank license by RBI. Today, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank has 888 branches and 320 ATMs, and is worth ₹4,700 crore.
